The Man, the Myth, the “I’m Just Here to Observe”
If you’ve ever wondered what happens when a director tries to go undercover, meet Kevin Hawley—former fearless leader of David Street Station, now attempting the impossible: staying out of the spotlight. Nice try, Kevin.
This is the guy who built the foundation, oversaw the growth, survived winter events, summer concerts, and more city meetings than anyone should legally be allowed to attend. And now? He’s just a humble board member, quietly lurking in the back like a dad at prom, hoping no one hands him a mic—or worse, a broom during cleanup.
Kevin says he’s just “supporting from the sidelines,” but let’s be real: the second something goes off schedule, he’s halfway out of his chair and mentally reorganizing the entire event.
We know the truth: Kevin is a walking encyclopedia of all things David Street Station. He is always just a phone call away and his knowledge runs deep. When asked about any given piece of equipment, historical information, or random fact, his story usually starts with...."Here is the back story, it might seem unnecessary", but in fact, it IS necessary and always appreciated. Kevin Hawley may try to blend in now, but his legacy is etched into every brick, bench, and perfectly timed street closure.
So let’s give it up for Kevin—the guy who retired from the limelight but can’t quite let the thermostat, budget, or signage go.
